The Simplify Poker Academy
Where smart players learn together

Why did we create Simplify Poker Academy?
At the tables poker is a zero-sum game, but away from the tables a rising tide lifts all ships. Knowing what to study and how to study is one part of the equation, finding a group of like-minded peers to study with is the final piece of the puzzle.
The reason why having your own mastermind group of players to learn from is so effective is because nobody knows what they don’t know. Having a community of poker students to bounce ideas off means you will be exposed to your blind spots in the game as well as other viewpoints you would not have considered.
Learning from others also doesn’t feel like hard work. The social aspect of a learning community makes poker study energising rather than draining. Especially when you get to share your successes with others who have been following your progress.

What is Simplify Poker Academy?

Through his books and courses, Dara O’Kearney has tried to replicate what he shares with his private coaching clients affordably at scale.
Simplify Poker Academy is the final piece of the puzzle. It is a small private community that will feature regular video material and monthly webinars. The secret sauce, however, is the community itself.
You can share hands and ask Dara and Barry strategy questions in the private forum. You’ll get the most value of all from having these discussions amongst yourselves.
You will also get to shape the direction of the Academy and future content will be based on member feedback.
Why did we create Simplify Poker Academy?
Since the launch of his books, demand for Dara’s private coaching has skyrocketed and he has been forced to increase his prices. This led him to create Tournament Study Simplified, which covers everything he does in his first sessions with new students.
However, the demand for Dara’s insights and time is greater now than it ever was. We wanted to create a place where we can replicate the benefits that Dara’s long-term students enjoy for players of all levels.
Simplify Poker Academy also mirrors how Dara learned the game himself. Way before the invention of solvers the only viable way to learn was testing your theories with players of a similar level. It remains one of the most enjoyable and engaging ways to learn poker.
Simplify Poker Academy brings together these two worlds. We have the most up-to-date content from the solver era combined with the very human way of learning from others.

Who is this Academy for?
This course would suit players of any level, as long as they are keen to learn and not shy about asking questions. It really suits players who learn the most from direct feedback from others.
The Academy is beneficial for those players who are keen to learn but unsure of what to learn next. We will be providing regular varied content on a variety of topics, all of which we think developing players need to know.
You don’t need to have bought any of our previous books or courses, nor do you need to own a solver. All these things help, of course, but are not a necessity.
Simplify Poker Academy is aimed at poker tournament players, live and online, we will not be covering cash games in much depth.

You are the average of the five players you spend the most time with

Discussing poker strategies in poker forums and on social media is the way many of us learn about the game, but its value is limited. Unfortunately, the conversation is often degraded by the worst players in the community. The recreational players we know and love to have in poker, but do not put any effort into improving their game. They bring down the level of debate because they are not interested in or cannot comprehend what is being discussed.
The is an old adage that suggests that you are the ‘average of the five people you spend the most time with’ and that is very true in poker. It is no surprise when you see groups of up-and-coming talented players that they all seem to share in each others’ success. Likewise, the players who surround themselves with gamblers who moan about bad luck never go far.
We believe that the best way to learn from others is to make a commitment to improve by joining a community like Simplify Poker Academy. It naturally weeds out the players who have no interest in learning and allows you to improve alongside like-minded players with the same enthusiasm for poker that you have.
What is in this community?
Simplify Poker Academy is a monthly subscription service which provides regular content, webinars and a community to discuss poker strategy.
